member of the Organisation of African Unity, with close links with the Arab countries, Ethiopia treads warily so as not to antagonise her Muslim neighbours and, as a socialist state, committed to friendship with the Soviet Union and her satellites, from whom she receives considerable assistance, she is obliged to support the communist attitude towards Israel and Zionism. Outside assistance for the Falashas is, therefore, limited to an integrated rural development project devised and managed by the World ORT Union (Organisation for Rehabilitation through Training) with the support of technical assistance funds from several Western nations.
